Great village pub and such a difference with the new manager Mark in last 12mths. He's such an asset to the village community hosting live music and events and bringing back to life a beautiful community space we've not had for many many years. Full stocked bar, lovely staff, friendly locals ...not much more you could want really rooms are currently being refurbed but even before it's been great for me with family over I have them staying at Mary Arden!

We enjoyed our Sunday roast here after a solid 5 miles along the canal side. The vegan option was served fresh, hot and was really tasty. The vegetables were cooked really well (no stodge or mush) - and the gravy was delicious. Obviously had to order a Guinness and pet the dogs to complete the experience. The service was great and the team were really friendly - really glad to have this as our local.

The pub has re-opened and it’s made a real difference to the village. The new team in charge have done a sterling job of creating a great village pub with good food and drinks. It’s now a place where you can come for a quick drink or be entertained or join one of the socials. Added bonus is that it’s very close to lots of footpaths so it’s a brilliant stopping point during or after a good walk in beautiful countryside.

Having visited on two occasions each time I have eaten from the bar menu and found both meals enjoyable. Good selection of beers and friendly staff. Ed the barman very friendly and helpful. Typical old world pub with open fire and warm atmosphere in the evening and weekends.

I visited with a friend who lives close to the pub and was immediately welcomed by not only the warm atmosphere , but also by the smiles of Mark and Lin. As I ordered and sat down, I could see and hear how they interacted with the patrons in such a friendly and yet, not intrusive manner. Friendly banter and conversation. I’ll definitely be going back.

A lovely county pub in a beautiful, quiet village. In a great location; only a 5 minute walk to Wilmcote train station and there is a local shop a 1 minute walk away from the pub. The staff were friendly and the bar was well stocked with drinks. Food was also lovely. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, had a lovely view and the bed was comfy.

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip... roomy with a very comfortable 4-poster, clean and well serviced with character, even though a bit of updating would improve it. The menu was, frankly uninspiring; the content and designless presentation had me considering alternatives. However, when the food arrived, I was reminded not to judge a book by its cover.... I had the sausage (locally sourced) and mash which was superbly cooked and presented... a humble dish absolutely cooked to perfection with superb ingredients, including lashings of kale, and gravy. One of the best I've ever had. I decided to finish with the sticky toffee pudding which was (predictably) sticky, but also surprisingly light. Oh yes, and the Black Sheep Ale was perfect... I've had a pint poured by Paul Theakston at the Black Sheep brewery, and this was as good. Lovely pub, building and good service. Give it a go... dont be put off by the bland-looking menu, the food and drink are top drawer.
